help on running gear

Looking for help in choosing new front and rear diffs. Anybody have suggestions. I live in northwest Ohio so I might be in sand, mud, highway, pulling a trailer and anything else I can get into. Please make suggestions for a low budget. Might use full length 4x4 truck diffs so I don't have to cut them down but something that has plenty of strength and will fit good. I like the look of wide axles so don't be shy. Please any help I can get. Also will be running small block Chevy and need help with granny and Transfer Case . Thanks for the help. B.

I am not sure what $$$$ figure you consider low budget but axle swaps do get expensive in a hurry

The Dana 60 front GM14 bolt rear is probably the strongest full width axle out there and they can get pretty pricey

narrowing a Dana 44 front and getting an Ford 9inch rear would be a great option and you would be able to keep your current wheel bolt pattern

The Explorer 8.8 rear seems pretty popular rear as well

If your looking to save time and money buy a complete vehicle.

You could purchase a 74-79 wagon or NT Cherokee
I picked up 79 NT Cherokee with a T-18 for $200, used the 44 axles, T-18 /Dana 20 in my 77 build, and the 360 in my 79 w/tons build. Sold what was left of the Cherokee for parts and made my $200 back.

If you want to go big......I purchased a Chevy K30 (w/plow) for $600 used the 60/14 axles 465 Transmission 205 Transfer Case and sold the rest for part for $2600

Best part was I didn't have to strip the K30 of parts, it became a pick and pull and the buyers picked it clean.

Been very happy with my 44 front and 9" rear.
Take into consideration axle weight as you decide.
