Help w/ Electronic Ignition Upgrade "MSD 6 Ignition"

I have a stock '61 CJ5 with the F134 Hurricane 4 cyl (don't laugh). Was running fine, after sitting all winter it won't start. I do not appear to be getting spark through the aftermarket electronic ignition - MSD 6 Offroad Electronic Ignition. Google that and troubleshooting and the vast majority of the issues are related to the ground. When I "test" the ignition per manufacturer website - with a jumper ground - it's hot, very hot (at the coil wire to the distributor cap). When I have it hooked up correctly and turn it over, the spark from the coil seems intermittent and not so hot. I'm not getting spark at the plugs. Cap, rotor, plug wires and plug are all good. Everything I read says I have a ground problem with the electronic ignition unit, but ... where???
