Help with an electrical connection
I was thinking mabey a dome light for the hard top. There is also a green, black with white trailer, black and two gray or tan wires not hooked to anything coming out of the same spot. I just don't like wires hanging there not being used.According to my diagram, its a light switch. Orange is the feed and black is the ground. It originates from a splice that also feeds the dash lights, so it would come on when the dash lights are on as well as be controlled for brightness by the headlight switch. You could check that by putting a test light on it and dimming the dash lights with the switch.
My guess is it could be used as an interior light. I wouldn't use it for trailer lights.
My rear taillights, turn signals, and stop lights are working just fine so they cant be those. I can't get power from any of the wires coming out of the harness. My interior lights are being controlled from a separate switch on the dash. I don't see where side lights were ever on my jeep in the back. I do have them in the side of the taillights and they work. I do have them in the front as well and they all come on with the headlight switch.Green is turn signal and hazard and I'm wondering if the gray/tan were originally white which would be backup and running lights. Could be the wires for the side light.
Yes that is for the dome light on the hardtop.
With mine it had a plastic cover that doesn't let hardly any light out so I removed it and now it works pretty well but it looks like it is missing a cover.Ding ding ding! Of course that dome light is in the back of the hardtop and throws about as much light as a match , if your lucky.![]()
