Help with soft top

Hi, I am making my own "ghetto" soft top and am having trouble putting the canvas to the windshield frame. There are already holes in the frame from another hard top but no screws or snaps. I bought snaps but they are too small and seem like they will easily become un-snapped. Is there any other kind of snap or clip or anything that would work?

Soft tops usually a frame that the top slides into and only snap on the sides. Here is a recent thread about the same question.

I saw that. Mine is just fabric made, it didn't come with a track and I wasn't planning on making a track. Are there any other kinds of snaps to use? Like a hook and a grommet or something?
