So had some time after work today to do a rear diff. change, well half of it anyways. Here are some pictures right after I pulled off the cover. I cleaned it all up inside there with brakecleen I think thats how you spell it, When I go to feel it back up with gear oil "80w-90" I am probably going to put about a quart of lucas in with it.

The numbers inside there read..
On the big Gear sideways thing-7 15 03 DANA D p81018 41 11 18518 OX
On the Axle drive thing- 15366
and on the back cover of the diff axle- 0 2072

What do these #'s mean anything important?

41 /11 = 3.727. So the gear ratio is 3.73's

I can't tell if it is Limited slip or not. If it is, you need some friction modifier. Just skip the Lucas goo and put 85w-90. By the way, a quart nearly fills the diff.

Looks like a Trac Lock to me
in the third photo, you can see one of the retainer clips

After reading your post and looking at the pics again you are right! I should have reviewd them more closely...

Khans, if you turn one axle shaft (with both wheels off of the ground) does the other axle spin in the SAME direction? If so it has the Limited slip Trac-Lok diff.

Yeah. He gets to get some friction modifier and make the gear oil smell worse. Hopefully the counter person knows what that is.

I just had one of these open the other day.....rear 44 with a tracklock. The tracklock takes up the position of the spider and side gears (ie. you cant see any side/spider gears). This looks like an open diff to me...

I didn't get to get it off the ground did everything from the ground up....When I do the bushing kit I will def. check.

Thanks

Here are some pictures of the front did this today in the rain....ahh can't wait till I get me a great garage with solid concrete that I can stain, I do believe it would be way better then wet grass and rocks beneath the body.

Here are some more pictures cleaned up both of the diff. covers with a good ol wire wheel, some scotch brite, and a can of 500 degree black engine paint...I'm still working on my craftsmanship considering I'm new to this whole married life and not getting to spend my own money. :notworthy:

First two are the rear.
Second two are the front.
