1976 CJ7 Jeep with a engine/tranny/wiring harness out of a 1988 s10 blazer 4.3l v6 with th700r4 automatic tranny and a cj7 Dana 300 transfer case with Novak adapter.
Complete wiring harness from the s10 blazer. Painted with HOT PINK Pearl paint with standard sized metallic halographic pink flakes. Painted by me -a newb. New rear, front and side three wire LED lights, New parts, new custom dash-by me And a lot of guidance from fellow jeepers and lots of prayers etc.... :p
Howdy all!

So, I installed ez wiring harness a while back and still can't/haven't figured out how or where to install the 4wd warning light wire and Ebrake warning light (I have the stock 76 jeep technical service book which has some diagrams but they are confusing:o)
Any help would be great! Pictures or personal drawings would be better than the "Messy" diagram in the service book... :notworthy:

The 4wd light plug on my Dana 300 Transfer Case is on the rear at the top of it and the e-brake light wire goes into the proportioning valve. does that help any?

the e-brake wires go to the prop valve?

i thought there was a switch on the e-brake lever... near/under the rubber star wheel...

As I recall, if there is a pressure difference in the prop valve between the front and rear brakes it will trigger the brake light on the dash cluster. So there is a sensor at the prop valve and near the e-brake pedal.

Thanks guys for your responses..

Ummm. Guess I could have told you how I wired them....

I wired one of the proportioning valve wires to the dash bulb and on the e brake pedal..

The other one is from the Prop valve to the ignition power---(I used the cruise control power wire since I don't have cc... Is that okay? Should I find a different wire?) to the bulb...

As for the 4wd... There is what appears to be a two pinned switch on the top (its a Dana 20 tcase out of a fsj) I installed an electrical terminal with wire to both of the "studs" grounded one to the frame and the other connected to my gauge power wire...

Still nothing for both... Any more suggestions?

Pictures would help if you have any.. .:notworthy:

I DO plan on (one day) saying by to the OE speedo/fuel/watertemp gauge cluster and installing (a already bought) Autometer gauges... I also have a autometer vaccum gauge installed, volts gauge and mechanical oil pressure gauge... So.. far....

unless im missing something, you didnt mention a return to negative for the cruise circuit... or a control device (switch)...

maybe check the 2 pinned connection on a diagram... see if its some sort of switch...

it could be bad if its the activation switch for the 4WD...

not sure about the e-brake hook-up... maybe someone whos way smarter than me will pick up on this thread... sorry i m not more help...

have you looked at the wiring diagram for your model? theres one in the TSM and heres a link to one (get a TSM if you dont have one)

Cj5 Wiring Diagram

its about 1/2 way down the page...

i hope this helps

Sorry I have not been around been sick, the brake is right on. But your 4wd is wrong for OE you need a single pin on the Transfer Case , or it does not work remove and check, also check the bulbs. It is wired right, but not working as intended.

The brake circuit light should come on when you turn the key to run then go off, or stay on when you have the e-brake on, or if unequal pressure in the brake system.

I gave you a diagram, you did good.

POWER through ignition switch,
Then to light bulbs,
Then to 'Ground' at the switches for brakes/4wd.

This should clear up the brake wiring, which is a little strange...

Thanks for the simplified wiring diagram..Just wondering if this is for CJ7 or a fsj truck? as my tranny, tcase and engine are out of a full sized jeep truck.. :wasted:

I checked and the Transfer Case has a threaded "switch at the top of the case with two pins coming out of the switch..
Perhaps since my Transfer Case is a Dana 20 from a full sized jeep truck as well as are my tranny (amc GM Turbo 400 ) and a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l engine... I didn't install them but a previous owner did..

Tell us what you have tested.
Does the e-brake light work right?

It does not matter what it is out of, except the switch should be single pin grounded through the case instead of double wire returning to harness. On the FSJ there was 4 lights controlled by 2 double pin switches (see picture [I would take my own pic, but can`t the find 4 lights at this time]4 high, N, 4 low & 2wd) and you are trying to make it work like a single pin.

On the OEM harness the light has orange (QT Switch) & red (power), I do not know the color code for ez-wiring but the OEM red will be the (power spliced to oil & fuel) and the OEM orange goes to the switch (ground)

To make it easy go buy the single pin switch for the CJ Dana 20 .
I have & Team Rush have tried to inform you as simplified as possible.

Please keep us informed.

Thanks for that detailed (and cool picture) response!!!! :notworthy::notworthy:
I have been pre-occupied with grinding and sanding away my "triangle" tub channel support brackets since a cl person traded me for the yj enclosure for a pair of the correct brackets so I can FINALLY install/secure my (CJ8 ) half hard top and bulkhead!!!:banana::banana:
I also started cutting up a new (uncut) dash to fit all my autometer gauges in home made (or bought what ever is the best/economical way right now to go) gauge pod and bezels... I've been looking at examples on line and been busy doing other things instead of things that make me cry.. (didn't see a cry-baby) ROFL...

But thanks to you and Teamrush for the help (pics and diagrams) I think I will get a single pin switch for above my Transfer Case ...

:wasted:

Your welcome,
I have been busy also Me and my youngest brother, have until the end of the month to either Tag (Registration) or fence or move elsewhere are Museum Pieces (Jeeps) or junk like the city says.

Tags are $89.00 each
I found AMC 150 ' of wood fence free on CL, must tear down.
Or storage for $50 a month for 2 vehicles x2.

And I got ripped off by a company selling 400lb scale, but Paypal saved my bacon, but set me back 2 weeks in selling my 200+ parts. And order 1 from Newegg since Wallyworld wants more and have to get a print add to get the difference back. Have a post in Shop Equipment, but can not post what I do not have.

I shaved my curly Irish locks so I can not pull my hair out.

So Merry X-Mas. :patriot:

P.S. Still looking for that 4 light set up it is in a box in the shed somewhere or a wire diagram of it since it is not in any of my books? It is still connected to the 2 pin switches and marked DS and PS on the switches.
I may have to go to the FSJ forum and ask for a diagram.
