Intake / Exhaust Manifold

I am replacing the gaskets on my 83 CJ7 with a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l . Does anyone know the torque specs and also the order in which I should tighten the bolts?

The fsm pattern is from the center out at 23 ft lbs.,then recheck at 18-28, which I think is a bit light and they are going to come loose anyway. Getting the exaust manifold on can be a challenge. The book also shows 12 bolts. I would advise using new lockwashers.
