Hi there!

I am new to this forum, I just got a '65 Jeep CJ5 . I am in the process of trying to make it street legal. The previous owner kept it rather immaculate ( running ) condition, and rebuilt the engine and Transmission , replaced the drive-lines, and now that it is almost mine I've narrowed it down to a few things that I need to fix and can get started on, on monday when I bring it home. Like the Wind-shield ( He thought it would give it character to put three bullets through it, personally I would have used a drill for that look, because now it's cracked to hell all over! ), new muffler, new rear and side-view mirrors, new guages, and the entire wiper mechanisms are missing ( How I love that the wipers will be mounted on the top of the Wind-shield though.. :chug: )
There are parking lights and bulbs and tail lights and bulbs, but there is no turn signal switch attached to the steering column. I am not new to electronics or mechanics. But I am generally new to vehicles.. this is the first car I've owned ( don't ask, I've been living in Europe and never needed a car, and now I returned to the US, and need one ). And I would like to know where to start with this. I am assuming that it would be here. I found a wiring diagram and attached it to this post, which shows how it the signals originally were wired.

I am here to have sense and knowledge slapped into me, so feel free to to help and throw a trout at my face :notworthy:. And yes, I am aware that I will be scouring my house for all the nickels and dimes I can find. Also I used the search function before-hand, perhaps I am just too much of a newbie to make use of the information that is there though!

Thank you!

Also, I wouldn't mind hearing out suggestions about where people generally like to locate the parts they need, the more economical the better :p, I also attached a photo of it, just because I know people like visual candy. Hopefully I'll provide some more larger view pictures when I bring it home, if there are those that are interested.

Bullet holes in the windshield for character huh?

That is an Omix-ada universal switch. I believe it has the flasher built into the switch so you shouldn't need an external flasher. You can get it cheaper on Amazon -->> Amazon.com: Omix-Ada 17232.01 Turn Signal Switch: Automotive

I attached the (very simple) diagram for the unit.
