Hey everyone. I am new to the forum, but am very impressed with the threads I have read so far so I decided to thow my question out there and see if you can help.

I have an '80 CJ7 and I am getting a pretty bad lurching when I am going at slow speed in 1st or 2nd. It usually only happens when I let off the gas to slow down a bit then reaccelerate. It doesn't seem to matter how fast I try to accelerate it goes into a lurching fit that will stop when I engage the clutch.

Any advice on getting it to stop doing this? What should look into as a possible cause of the problem.

Thanks for your help,
jwest

What RPM are we talking about when it starts this lurching?

I'm not sure I really have any good ideas myself, consider this a bump back to the top...

I'm just thinking out loud here but is there some severely worn U joints combined with failed engine mounts along with excessive backlash in the rear differential?
How bout get on your back under the CJ and while in gear can you twist the driveshaft back and forth more than say a few degrees?
