I plan on rolling these in, pan bolts are tight on passenger side, how do I properly jack the engine up enough to remove the pan? Jack placement etc....? Thanks in advance.

I think the best way is to raise it with an engine hoist or winch from above.

Its been awhile since i had a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l but you can remove the cross brace and i think the pan will drop right down.

Easiest to remove the passenger motor mount to get pan off, fuel pump is in there and a pain to get around. And as mentioned crossbar too.

Definately would remove the passenger side engine mount, even if you can manage to get pan off with mount on, imagine getting it installed, especially while dealing with new gasket and sealant. I managed to do it without a hoist. Remove starter, which exposes a flat portion of engine block to put a jackstand under, jack up just enough to take weight of engine from under pan using block of wood. Remove mount, put jack stand under above mentioned flat spot, lower jack. Then you will have easy access to all bolts. And drop that cross member in front too.
