Actually it's Matt but that's another story.

I am an addict. I admit it. Isn't that the first step to recovery? What if I don't want recovery? Then I guess it's all good then.

See I have to have a hobby or project at all times. I can't help it. I need something that my mind will allow me to wander when I can get a few minutes of mental down time. Through the 1990's it was my CJ5 . then in 2004 until this year I built a few motorcycles and got into racing. unfortunately I got into my second bike/car accident this year on July 9th and I got a little messed up. My beautiful and very expensive Italian sportbike got destroyed and my pride with it. This forced me to re-evaluate how I spend money on hobbies. Well, bikes get built, money gets spent and the bike gets ruined. This has happened to me several times over the years. Plus my family never gets to enjoy my bikes. So........In drops the need for another project because I decided to back off from bike building for awhile. What to do?!?

I get my hands on a sweet buildable CJ8 after looking all summer. Well, with any new project I go internet crazy and start researching everything Jeep and I recaptured my long lost love for this awesome vehicle. I forgot how much I love the CJ era Jeep and I am glad to find them again even more so since I have a CJ8 now. Well, my wife Patti is now seeing just how crazy I get and keep saying little comments like, are you still looking at Jeep pictures, how much longer are you going to surf the net looking at Jeeps? She doesn't get that building a quality Jeep takes planning and time. I need to find out exactly what I want to do for every part before I make any purchases or start the work. I realize that Patti is just like most women who are not into things like this. I just have to deal with it and help her understand my love for Jeeps.

I have to help her understand that I am an addict and being an addict brings sacrifice and lots of fun for us when it is built. Hopefully someday when we are on the trail and Patti concures her first boulder, hill climb or mud hole on her own, she too will understand the love of Jeeps and then she can say.........................
I am a Jeep addict, and I am ok with that.

Hi Kane. I, too, am an addict. I fortunately have a wife who allows me to be, but does not allow me to spend the money on it like I think I should be allowed to, which may be a good thing. I am just glad for a place like this, so that I realize that I am not alone in this struggle with addiction. Or should I say in embracing this addiction....

my wife says that same thing about me. cant you leave anything alone lol. when we bought my 03 accord i won a aem cold air intake off fleabay and she came home from work and i was throwing the air box and hoses acrossed the yard and she was like wtf we just got this car and your tearing it apart lol.

I too I'm a Jeep addict. I've only owned 2 cars in my life.
But I've owned 7 Jeeps in the last 25 years! I have a diecast Jeep collection of over 400 Jeeps.and lots of Jeep T-shirts.Curratly have 2 Jeeps
05 TJ Rubicon and a 86 CJ7 .

i also am addicted however i am still on my first one and my wife does not understand it she does tolerate and gives me money to spend on it and i cant wait to have it finished :chug:

Patti understands my addiction and I know once she drives the scrambler after it's built she is going to never want to stop. This happened to my buddy and he basically lost his 5 to his wife after he built it. she never wanted to give him the keys. Luckily I have two so she can drive it all she wants. I cant waite until she gets hooked.

My wife complains, but once they are done she drives them as if they were her DD. So I guess we are both addicts.
