scrap built CJ7
Hi, I'm new here and new to jeeps and i have several questions. i just recently bought what i thought to be a 74 CJ5 but when i got it home realized it had the tool compartment built in to the floor. i thought that stopped in 71 right? Also does anybody know where to get cheap body panels for thjis thing assuming the year is right? i need the windshiled and frame, floor pans, rockers, rear fenders, corner panels, and the back panel or just a tailgate if its cheaper. Any help is much appreciated

Forgot to mention it was in pieces when i bought it and it also needs a radiator and some steering colum components that i know of so far. i'll try to figure out how to post pics soon. thanks again for any help

start with the vin number and it will make body parts a lot easier to identify.

now do a google serch for "jeep cj body panels" that should keep you ocupied all night.
I am sure you will have more than a few opinions when the crew wakes up.

and by the way
:ww:to the best place for CJ people to hang out.
and greatings from the Republic of Texas.

where are my manors??:dunno:

Congrats on the new Jeep and :ww:to the site. You could try craigslist for some Jeep parts and maybe the local bone yard? :chug:

Arrrrrrrrrrrrhhh seems we have a pirate on the board. Hey I think 74s had tool boxes. anyway cheap panels are exactly that. Cheap. go to the link CJ set up, they sell in the original metal gauge. That is important as they had a good solid steel, not the thin knockoff stuff most places sell.

Lets just say Im not at all impressed with the fit of replacement rocker panels from either Quadratec or Jcwhitney. The compound bends of the door sill are on both were less than adaquate. I ended up reusing my original after I already cut it out. If you look at the floorpans on my Cj -8 build they dont have the bead rolled in or the correct bends. Heres the ones from Classic ent. Just a much better looking product and alot more user friendly. I chose to try and save a few bucks and it bit me in the :censored: in the end. Not again.

thanks for the help guys im tryin to order some panels maybe tomorrow. and to answer the question yes i have the original AMC 304 and 3 speed. i heard somewhere tho that the 76 up side panels would fit on the jeep but they don't have the indent over the rear wheels or something like that. is this correct
