So I replaced the shift rod seals today, good news is the leak has stopped but now I have no 4wd. Transfer Case shifts from 2wd to neutral but nothing else. The right shift rod doesn't appear to be moving, how did I eff this up?? It appears there is, or should I say was a rubber bushing in the metal piece that controls the shift rods, should I make a bushing for that, is it affecting the shifting?? Any ideas?? 85 Dana 300

After pulling the shifter apart again and putting it back together, I can get it into 4wd if I really jam the shifter, I got it to go into low and high. Im gonna assume it will loosen up over time, never had a jeep shift that hard, but the question still is, should I make a new bushing, will it help?? Cant find any rubber bushings around here, polyurethane too stiff??

I'm not sure about the factory shifter, but I know with my dual shifter setup if I tighten the linkage too much I can't move the levers. They needs to be able to go up and down a little to accommodate the vertical "swing". Try loosening the linkage bolts up a tad and see if that helps.

Did you ensure you put the bearings and springs back on properly? They slide from side to side with the assist from the springs if not inserted back I properly the shifters will bind and not allow full motion of the shifters. There are good pictures and instructions you can pull from an instruction manual from a Dana 300 4:1 kit. Search on google for Dana 300 4:1 instructions.
