Nissan Safari- fitting MB body. Has 37's, VH45 v8, etc.
Hi all.

So I've got a project on the go at the moment which involves a totally glass MB body. it'll never be an accurate replica (guards/tub cut for 37's, v8, nissan chassis) but there are a few things i'd like to get right.

I've ended up working for a fiberglass company (4wd fiberglass ) and basically am slowly working there to pay off the tub and am making a few of my own bits using existing molds. I'm about to start on my grille and this has me a wee bit

It doesn't matter how much research i do.. but i'm still confused. The mb has recessed lights in the grille, and the CJ2 /cj3 has them ON the grille- is this correct?.

Looking at the MB grille mold it looks like its made to take the recessed equipment- however the "holes" for each headlight are not round and are actually kinda triangle.

Is this normal?!!!

Also can someone please let me know which size/shape new headlights I should be fitting behind this grille.

Sorry if this has been covered to death.

Cheers,
NAthan

The MB had the lights mounted behond the grill on hinges. this allowed the GI to swing the light back ward to see insde the hood when working on the motor at night and to hide them in black out conditions. The light I believe was a 5 inch round but the sshape of the grill hole was not totally round.

thanks for that :-)

I've since dug out many pics of the internal assembly.

What do you guys do for replacement 5" round headlights to get them shining to modern standards?

I've tracked down some 5.5" round lights off a GSXR which take H4 bulbs (so have hi/lo beam) but cant find anything else even close. Smallest sold here in NZ for automotive use (with the hi and low beam) is 7"

For reasons I can explain via PM, could a moderator please delete this thread. Thanks.
