As sorry as I am to say my '83 CJ7 that I bought new has a couple of rust areas that are needing worked.

It was suggested to remove the body this winter and get the whole body acid dipped and then repaint the entire body. Looking for anyone who has done this, thoughts, pit falls, suggestions, words of wisdom. This would be a winter job, just not sure about taking on this whole project.

Yup it's a bunch of work and maybe 2 winters, but when you're done you know what you have.

I did mine in one off season but my reg. work was slow and I went at it 10 hrs a day, I had no metal work though just strip bare and repaint. If you have more money than time you could farm out the body/paint maybe?
Like said when you do it yourself you know what you have.

I just finished a frame off restoration. It took about 8 months to finish. However I didn't spend every spare minute on it. I had my frame sandblasted and beefed up from the rear axle back. I also had a new 1/4 inch rear cross member made. I had the frame welded from front to back. The whole thing cost about $800 to get done.
