Ok i noticed a squeak at the back of my valve cover thought maybe a noisy lifter but it sounds higher right under the valve cover. when this nosie happens the PVC valve chatters??? this only happens for about 5-10 second then stops then 30 60 seconds later it does it agian

the noise started 3 days ago so i switched oil Rotella 15w40 my oil pressure is at 60psi at start up and at a hot idle 40psi then back to 57ish at hot crusing speeds. i only noticed the chatted from the PVC today after i did oils change im sure this has nothing to do with the oil, i changed oil hoping i needed thicker oil for my lifters.

I'm really worried.......................

all this was happening before the oil change. only the chattering PVC i noticed to after.

Are you getting a lifter clatter? This can be caused by a clogged oil passageway or a clog in the lifter. You shouldn't be getting any noise from the pcv. If you are having issues with crankcase breathing a vented breather in the rear of the valve cover could help here. Just remove it for emission testing. 60 psi is a bit much for an old AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l , a mechanical gauge does appear to be more accurate.

my motor was rebuilt 15k ago and i have a mini filter on the rear grommet and mech gauge. the valve cover nosie is like a sqeak almost a winding up? i poured out my old oil filter and found no metal anywhere.... it has a slight tick at hi rpms

i ran a vac on the PVC hose and got about 16-18hg i sucked on the pvc valve and stayed oped blew it closed. the chatter is the metal ball bouncing when the valve cover nosie happens periodically

I'd put a vac guage on it and see what you have.

I did im getting 18-19 hg at carb base port. same as the port on the brake hose fitting.
what should i get?
i think i might have a ping or its the valve cover noise im hearing
should i fattin up the carb to get 22hg or so?

all this luck......right in my wheel house! I just had T-150 rebuilt :D

If this is the OEM, Jeep ele. gauge. Don't trust it ever to be 'rite'.
CK your manifold bolts to be sure they're tight.
Your cold oil psi is fine-IF the gauge is correct.

wait so the oil pressure is good, or just good cold pressure? and by tight do you mean tq to spec? or "tight" what Should my vac gauge read i might not be tuned in and getting a nasty ping. i'v got 18hg or so should i have more, my Transmission was down so i didnt get to tune it very well and i'm still working out the kinks shes a real mess right know and i feel awful about it! poor her......

Your oil pressure is good. The reason I said put a vac guage on it is if you have something bad going on in there it will jump around and it sounds like it is steady so if your getting a ping you might try backing the timing down some and see if that helps.

Start run'n prem gas and see if the ping goes bye-bye.;)
Tight=By hand, cause you can't get anything but a box wrench on the manifold bolts.
How do you get 18HG of vacuum at 6200+' ASL??
