Well, I also have a painless kit but my forum mind reading abilities are not working very well at the moment.
It would really help get you an answer (if we can) if you would ask a question...

As I ditched the computers I used the Ford Ignition System diagram in the manual minus the ballast resistor to follow. Was I correct? Then I used the Delco Alternator diagram. Anyone else do this or did they do it another way?

I used the Delco alt and went with an HEI ignition, what problem do you have?

Put one on mine a couple of years ago. Followed the directions and did not have any issues. A friend installed one on his and had a couple of issues. He called Painless and they walked him right through it. Might try calling the Painless support line. I understand they are really good at helping.
