Hey ,new guy here again , Ive done a search on this but I guess Im just not seaching with the right words . Are there any mods that can lower the passenger seat on my 87 CJ7 . I have ordered a slider off ebay but I still want to lower to at least the same height as the drivers side. Whats the usual remedy for this?

They didnt make a CJ in 87, went to the Wrangler, and as far as I know all the 76-95 seats were the same height, driver and pass. Thats a strange question

Oh man , I dont why I put 87, I meant 83 CJ7 . I swear it looks and feels higher. Maybe my bad eye is playing tricks on me again :D. Im getting a slider for it to make it more adjustable. Ok , thanks for the response.

I just replaced the seats in my 80 CJ5 and put new sliders on both seats to the tune of $140.00!! Once installed, I noticed that the passenger seat sat at least a couple of inches higher than the driver's seat. It appears that the passenger seat was never meant to have a slider. I took it out and it looks better but I now have the problem that the seat doesn't go all the way down because the seat back hits the fender well and doesn't let the lock that holds the seat down engage fully. I'm still scratching my head on how to fix that one.

With sliders under both of my seats, my pass. side is a couple inches higher too. It drove me crazy at first but I'm use to it now.

Yeah. My passenger seat is higher as well. I just got used to it.

Hadn't really noticed it before, but, yup, the passenger seat is higher on my 81. Maybe the right side designer was shorter than the left side guy.

Mine too. Never noticed until i took the top off.

originally, the passenger seat did not have a slider under it. I can think of no reason why it would need one. Does the passenger need to get closer to the glove box or maybe the grab bar??

Good point.
Ditch the slider

Umm, I just double checked, and there's no slider on the passenger side, but it's still higher than the drivers side. Fat a** PO? Or maybe it's a throwback to the original Jeep? More clearance for the Garand? It's ok though, she's about that much shorter than I am, so we can see eye-to-eye.

From the factory there was no factory slider on the pass. side and both seats were at the same height, a worn seat riser could be the problem, but there should be no difference in the seat heights, especially not 2 inches.
