Is there a good patch out there to fix the area of the tub where the windshield brackets attach? I have a CJ5 77 and the areas are not horrible but they are week with some small rust holes in them. Should I make a fiberglass patch or just weld in a good piece of steel behind it? Thanks for you help.

I would just cut out the bad parts and weld in good metal. It takes longer to rind it all down flush than weld it in, but it makes a difference.

Just cut out more than you think so you are into good metal.:chug:

Got a photo of the area in question?

Fiberglass + steel = weak at the seams, and I don't think you want that on a piece bearing a small load like this. If you have a welder, that's your ticket for sure, and it shouldn't take long to do.

Be sure to weld very small spots at a time so as to not warp the metal. Rod
