want to swap my 84 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l pilot bushing to a bearing cause of some galling on input shaft,any success out there?

I rented a puller from Auto zone and it gave me fits being mine was galled out badly. I went to another Auto parts place and rented one that was slightly different and it worked first time.
