Hi Guys,

Our TJ broke down and the service center said we need this part. Its a powertrain module control .And it costs too much here in the Philippines.

Please let me know where can i get one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Cheers,
Elmer

I told your buddy the same thing last thread:

http://www.jeep-cj.com/forums/f2/powertrain-console-needed-18107/

Try e-bay, rock-auto, etc.

You can also look for jeep wreckers / auto wreckers that may have a used one, but you will need to have it programmed for your vin# and mileage. That's why most are so expensive. They also have the programming for air/fuel mixture settings / climate etc.

This is why they will be so expensive.

You're going to have to bite the bullet on this one (as the phrase goes) and just buy one bud.

I'm not sure that US-based suppliers like NAPA or Rock Auto will be any more cost effective than a local (service center) purchase + programming.

My 10 minute search for Jeep parts suppliers in Metro Manila came up with nothing.

I would try to contact a local enthusiast group like

Military Vehicle Collectors Club of the Philippines (MVCCP) in Pampanga as they may be able to point to a cost-effective, local source.

There is some contact information here:

Good luck

Problem with a used unit is that they're as old as the one you have now. Look for a rebuilder. I had the computer rebuilt for my Mazda pickup for a couple hundred dollars.

Then I bought a Jeep old enough to not have a computer!

The original poster is in Manila, Philippines.

From this site: Cost of Living in Manila, Philippines. Prices in Manila.

Apartment (1 bedroom) in City Centre 15,000.00 (mean) ₱ 6,000.00 - 25,000.00 (range)
Apartment (1 bedroom) Outside of Centre 8,000.00 (mean) ₱ 4,000.00 - 15,000.00 (range)
Apartment (3 bedrooms) in City Centre 50,000.00 (mean) ₱ 30,000.00 - 80,000.00 (range)

The median monthly disposable income is about 14,000 Philippine pesos.

Today, USD $300 is about Philippine pesos 12,388.58

I can see how the alternatives we can offer from the US are cost prohibitive for a Manila resident and getting a PCM being pretty difficult for an average guy.
