I bought a new windshield frame, painted it and installed it. It sticks straight up. I can't get it to come down to meet up w the doors. There is a 3" gap no matter how hard I pull on it. Is it just a bad part or is there something I can do to make it fit? My gasket is new. I only used it on the old windshield frame a few months before getting the new windshield frame.

Could you send in some pics? You have to get pretty creative to install aftermarket body items. This was just discussed in a previous post.

It would be interesting to see. The newer gaskets are thicker (denser). I've heard of this before (not sure about 3" though). Theirs a guy on ebay that has one that's not as stiff and thick. I bought one buy won't be that far along for another yr. or two.

the hold downs opposite the hinges have a slotted hole that allows the windshield to tilt back.

You may have to loosen up all of the hinge bolts and let it stretch some there.

What happens if you unbolt the windshield from the hinge, will it sit on the body at the correct tilt back or does it get hung up on anything. If it sits that way correctly, when you flip the hinge up, do the bolt holes line up? Photos would help us help you :)

Wooly

Could they have sent you the wrong frame? The Pre 1976 frames were more upright.

When I replaced my gasket , I had mess with it a bunch to get it right. Loosen up the hinges and try and pull it back then tighten it up. Probably wouldn't hurt to warm up the gasket too. Especially if your doing this out side.
