Hi everyone....

I'm looking for someone who really knows the quadra-trac Transfer Case .
Years ago, I put the Milemarker 2x4 kit in my TC. No problems. About 10 months ago I broke into it to check it out and reseal it, since I had the tranny at the shop. There were no problems inside.

However, in the 6 or 7 months, the Jeep has just sat in the garage with a leak coming somewhere in the TC.

I took it out a few minutes ago, and discovered something I hadnt noticed before. I have attached 3 pictures, gradually getting closer to the TC. If you look closely in the pictures of the Transmission /TC mounting surface, there is a small hole machined at an angle into the housing. It actually appears to allow fluid to potentially leak.

Does anyone know what the heck this hole is for? And is there supposed to be something IN this hole?

BTW: I can stick a long toothpick in the hole and it goes all the way into the area where the tranny output shaft goes in. (where the paper towel is plugging the hole)

Thanks very much....

Brian

weep hole to let you know the seals are bad
there are two seals and a gasket between the two units
the seals sit back to back and face opposite directions
one to keep Transmission fluid in the Transmission ; one to keep QTrac fluid in the Qtrac.
one or both can be easily damaged during assembly of the two units
