i have a 1984 CJ7 with a T-5 stock Transmission . I believe that the Hydraulic clutch assembly is stock, it is a girling master and slave set up. My question is how should the slave pushrod attach to the slave cylinder (because right now it is just sitting in there and not truly connected to the slave, the boot just holds it on) and how should it attach to the throwout lever. Also i am unsure if there should be a throwout lever return spring on this setup or if that is only required for the crank type clutch. Any help is appreciated, thank you and i will try and provide any clarification if you want to know something more specific.

The pushrod naturally sits loose in the slave cylinder, its just how they are. The tension of the throwout arm keeps it depressed.
