I am considering going back to stock fan and shroud because the electric fan is too small and doesnet seem to work for me while i ride the trails. Of course i could get a bigger fan....but? My Jeep is a daily driver and it seems easier to go back stock. Any info on what size, blade count ect i need do they come with the clutch. The loss of a few mpg and HP is not an issue, it so small anyway. Now i do from time to time go through a mud hole but if too deep i go around. Do yall think stock setup would be ok for my Jeep. 1973 CJ5 304V8

I prefer sticking with stock mechanical fans. Keep It Simple.:D
I really don't think electrical fans gives HP gains. More electrical drain means the alternator is harder to turn as it tries to produce electricity and there are always losses when you use mechanical energy to make electricity to turn a motor that will in turn rotate a fan.
IMHO it is more efficient to have the mechanical movement rotate a fan instead of pushing the alternator.

Now there are 2 advantages to electrical fans:
1. you can turn them off when crossing deep water.
2. at idle speed the fan can still rotate at full speed. Rock crawling won't give you much wind from your speed and the engine won't be rotating the OEM fan very fast either.

Go with a stock clutch fan, and even if you do hit a little water the clutch will let it slip.(hopefully)

Thanks All now i just need to order the stuff.:chug:
