I have a small leak in my radiator tank on the bottom where the bottom hose connects to the radiator. The collar the hose slips on looks like it is simply pressed into the tank. Stop leak worked quickly, but I'd like to replace this radiator with something better.

Where can I get a good replacement radiator where the pieces are actualy welded together so that I know it will last?

I think I would start by checking with a local radiator shop. They may be able to make one or order one in. Other wise check places like Summit Racing and the 4x4 online dealers.

A local shop could also resolder yours, if it's otherwise in good shape. I bought an aluminum one made for a 65 Mustang for mine. I'm sure you could find one that would fit your 79 without too much trouble.

Sounds like an easy fix for a local radiator shop. They would also make sure the internal part of your radiator is working as it should. I just replaced mine. It took four radiators (two from autozone, one from NAPA and finally one from O'Rielly's before I got the right one.) They may say they are OEM replacements, but don't believe it...

I just put a Champion aluminum 3 core radiator in mine.
Looks beautiful and all welds look really clean

However bracket was drilled about 3/8 inch too narrow.
I drilled the bracket a little bigger to make it fit. Was told it will NOT void my warranty.

Bought it on ebay for $213 shipped

A small leak may only need to be re-soldered; any radiator shop can do that or if corroded maybe just replace the core. The old brass tanks of yesterday sure beat the plastic :dung: of today.

:agree: I think you need to pull it out and take it to a good radiator shop and have them fix it.

I have been thinking about Radiators as well and all are definitely created equal that is for sure. If you were having no problems other than this leak I would take every bodies advice and take it to a shop for repairs. I am thinking about a replacement / upgrade to a vista pro 3 core from Summit. It seems that there are pretty big differences even in 3 row coils with 1.8 inch core thickness being average, with some thinner, and this one at 2.25inches. another 1/2 inch presents a lot of cooling surface.

$400 is a bit pricy but I am hoping to not have to buy a lot of these.:D

Radiator shop fixed it and rodded it out for $75. Everything else was in good shape. It was hard finding an open shop. All of the overseas :dung: is putting the shops out of service. Guy was nice and the radiator is now good as new

I'm glad to hear you got it fixed and it only cost $75. :)
