Hey guys could someone do me a favor and take some measurements as to where those rods mount to on the cowl. I am doing a fiberglass body install and hav enothing for reference. When I put them in place they both appear to be skewed towards the DS on the cowl. I don't think it will matter but I have an 86 CJ.

I got 31 1/4" from the hole in the rod to the cowl.

Hey Torxhead thanks. Is there any way for you to also get approx measurements as to where they bolt on the cowl left to right or off center. They don't need to be exact, I just need to get in the ballpark.
Thanks again.

I think you are looking for their location, mine are 30 1/2" center to center at the cowl or the radiator frame and 35 1/2" at the firewall. I ASSume that the radiator frame should be mounted perpendicular to the front of the frame. The mounting holes are fairly large and provide for a final adjustment, I like to use big, thick washers.

MAybe some pictures will help. Standing at the front of the vehicle, looking at the cowl, the rods skew to the drivers side. I would accept this as normal if it weren't for the fact that I really had to work with some heat and wrenches to get the nuts loose on the DS, and am unsure if I twisted the rod in the process, causing it to angle off at the wrong angle to the cowl.
Do the support rods in these pics look normal or should they be symmetrical as they go back to the cowl?

Hope this is more clear?
Thanks Chris

As you can see in the picture, the drivers side is offset from the hood hinge to clear the master cylinder.

Glad CSUENGR could help you out. Generally if there isn't a photo handy, someone will run out to the garage and take a photo.

It's the little things like this that are hard to find in the FSM.
