Hello,

I am have work done on a CJ3a . It is a '49 which I have been told has 9" brakes front and rear. Well mine has 10" brakes in the back?

How can I confirm that 9" backing plates and drums will mount to my current axle. I assume this is a Dana 41 but not sure how to tell what will work?

Would like to have 9" all the way around like it should have been.

Thank you in advance,

Tyler

On CJ tapered axles, the bolt pattern for the brake backing plates is the same, regarding 9", 10" or even 11".
Regarding the rear axle, it should be a Dana 44 , but could have been changed or swapped out at one point in time. The 41 cover has a slight, narrow bulge top to bottom that is offset from center.
The same holds true for the brake assemblies. Bolt on upgrade or maybe came with the rear axle that's in it now.
Used 9" take off brakes shouldn't be hard to find.

Pictures of your axle and brakes would help identify.
