OK SO I got a new cowl seal since i'm (hopefully) getting the windshield fix SO windshield is gone and now i'm scrapping off the left over gunk where someone tried to fix the cowl themselves. SO what is the best way to put it on and seal it right so I don't have any leaks and problems with it?? thanks!!

Pretty simple process, just drop ypur windshield, remove the screws holding the old one, and stick the new one in place. I have never used any sealent or mastic on any of mine. I just screw it in, and put the windshield back up.

Yeap, what coldwater said, drop the windshield, pull the old one out, and put the new one in, no sealant or goo required.

I just did that last summer. When you put the windshield back up with the new cowl gasket in there, it's not going to line up the exactly the same. Because I did it alone, I took a ratchet strap and ran from the windshield to the spare tire carrier and got it good and snug, then I could get the windshield screws back in. Just remember it's going to be a lot tighter than when you took it apart. :chug:

Hope you have your windshield back and cowl seal installed.

Thanks, jeepnmomma, for posting the cowl seal installation. Without your question I would not have found this wonderful site.....nor gotten excellent instructions!
