rpm range for 258

Just wondering what is the operating rpm range of the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l I think 2000-3000 is the power band of the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l but not sure. Is going farther then 3000 to high or what is the redline for the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l ? Thanks for the info!

power comes in lower than that id say around 1k rpms, mine falls around 3k

Redline for the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l is 4500 rpms. But really anything above 3000 makes it sound like it's coming apart.

Thanks your right its pretty rapped out at 3000 already on the highway at 2800 doing 65. So from 1000-3000rpm is about all you'd really want to go. Thanks for the info!

After doing the HEI and Howell EFI my little AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l goes right past that old 3000 RPM mark. I don't run it up all of the time but it now has no trouble when I am on the mountain roads.
