driving along today about 45 mph on hard surface road.....heard a few new clinks in the Transmission and then poof, no power in 3rd. down shifted to 2nd, that was fine, but back up to 3rd and no power. Turned into a parking lot and shut her off. looked under the Transmission and saw nothing more than the usual few drops. Started her back up to head for home. This time no power in 2nd or 3rd. turned in again to parking lot, getting ready for a tow and then tried her again and 1st and 2nd were fine. thought we'd limp home (10 miles) in 2nd but when I shifted to 3rd she was ok. took it easy...still heard the few new clinks but that was it. Made it home but want to know what's up. I"ll check fluid when she cools down but no major leaks on the floor or anything like that.
Also my manual keeps saying fill plug on right (passenger side). Cant find anything there but on the drivers side looks to be the fill and the drain plug. Had to run a funnel down through the circle panel on drivers side floorboard that the use to check the master cylinder.
what am I missing?
F134 Hurricane
t90C Transmission

thx

You are going to have to dig into your Transmission . I know nothing about your Transmission , but it sounds like there's a floating problem blocking your Transmission from going into gear. Probably a small chunk of metal. Not a good thing, but it could be a whole lot worse.

yes...feels like all of sudden its not in gear. just checked all my fluids in Transmission and transfer box...all ok. Took it out for a ride and no symptoms....ran just fine. don't know what to think

thanks.....just checked all my Transmission and Transfer Case fluid levels and all ok. took it out for a ride to see if I could duplicate and no symptoms. dont know what to think.

I believe you've got something floating around in that fluid which will eventually bring big trouble with it. Have you got a magnet in your drain plug?

no....but great idea....can I buy a drain plug with a magnet on it?
