Anyone ever tackle a rusty frame? I thought mine was bad, then it got worse. I keep telling myself the price was right, just make it useable (it was free). My dad is helping me repair it too. We've been working on the rear passenger side shackle hanger frame area. The shackle wasn't even hardly attached to the frame. He had already fixed the other side. I noticed the front mount for the drivers side rear leaf was alright, but the frame was rusting and separating as well. I thought :dung:, that sucks. I poked at the passenger side with a screw driver and found the same stuff…UGH!

I've been working on the drivers side body mounts. They were all pretty much nonexistant. I've got the pan replaced under the seat as well as got the mount redone. The next one to do is the fire wall where the clutch attaches then the mount right there and tie it into the floor pan. Its a mess down there.

Anyone else ever decide it was a good idea to tackle these issues? I'm planning on swapping to a YJ spring setup and running 33's. Its going to be mainly a wheeling rig.

Ouch! It looks like you could patch it forever. If there's that much rust there, the rest is just as bad.

Look for another used frame.

The body mounts look real bad. It all depends if there is any sound metal to weld to???

Yeah the entire frame is all scaly rust. But its reasonably strong in places that are not around the rear leaf mounts or hangers. I think I'll get more pics Thursday when I go back up there, hopefully.
