OK so the big problem is I am getting tired of the V belt squealing on the 140 amp alternator but with power steering on the horizon as well I think a serpentine belt set up is a good idea. The only question I think I have is how hard it is going to be to put the serpentine pulley on the crank. this will be, I am guessing , an 80 something pulley/balancer on a 77 crank.

any thoughts??

found something interesting tonight. Summit lists and stocks serpentine belts by number of ribs and actual length. In 1/2 inch increments. How cool is that!

Try getting that information from the local parts house!! Back in the day, they used to actually know what the code on the belts meant. Now they dont have a clue.

If you go to a local parts place they usually have the belts about every 1/2" or so. I've had to run back and forth increasing/decreasing a half inch at a time until I get it right. I do prefer Summit to Autozone; but they have worked for me on the belt issue. Last three digits is the length.
