Shifter Cover Question CJ-7 vs CJ-8

Is there a difference in shifter covers from a CJ7 to a CJ8 ? I thought that everything was the same back to the rear of the front seats. I purchased a Warrior Products Diamond Plate shifter cover and when I went to install found that I could not shift into 1-3rd or into 4H on the Transfer Case side. When I overlaid my old shifter cover with the new Warrior there was a huge difference in the cut out. When I called Warrior I was told that this was cut by a CNC machine and was correct. Am I wrong or should they be identical in both the 7 & 8 ?

The shift cover should be the same between a CJ7 and a CJ8 . The issue is not the model of the jeep it's the model of the TCase and tranny. I'm sure the shift cover fits some CJ8s if you have the correct driveline.
I would return it saying it doesn't match up with your shift levers.

Dave...thanks.... what I thought. I have Dana 300 and T-177 so they should be the same in a CJ7 -8 nothing changes until you get into the back. I think Morris 4x4 sent me the wrong cover. Their customer service really stinks. I don't think I will use them any more. I ordered floor pans from them and they were from Taiwan. My fault for not asking in advance. CJ posted the good ones but dumb a.. me didn't read in advance.
