1980 CJ5 with 4 speed. The shifter is very tall and straight and almost hits the dash in 1st and 3th. Anyone taken it out and bend it back towards driver?

When I put my T-18 in, it had a really tall shifter and I had to bend it back so it didnt contact the dash. Simply heat it up and bend away...

Also had to do this with my Dana 300 shifters when I twin sticked it so they would gain some separation.

When I did my T-18 , along with bending it, I shortened it about a foot then drilled and tapped for a stud and shifter. So penster1, make it work.

You know what....I think I shortened mine a little bit also. I remember it was ridiculously tall.
