Has anyone ever used a step like the one on the left on a CJ? I can't see the mounting bracket, so I am not sure that it will work. I have one of the OEM steps as shown also, but I can't seem to find another one to match it.

I don't care for the aftermarket step as it only bolts to the body and I like something that ties into the frame. But surely one of the yards speciallizing in jeeps can get one. I know there is one out of bernsville PA that sells on ebay, sellers name: onejeep Company name is storks snow plow and jeep parts. You try contacting them.

I think I have one of each of those at the shop. If I still have the stock step, I remember its not in perfect shape. May be for sale if I get the right offers.
If I were you, I'd look into the CARR steps. I had a pair on my Jeep for a long while (mounted to the body only) and when I finally broke one, it was because the entire weight of the CJ was on it, on a rock, in a ditch, as I was trying to throttle out of it.
Look at my avatar to see the one I finally broke off. I modified the mounts so they could be pulled up against the body when running in the mud or what-not, and my rider forgot to pull hers up during the trip I broke it on.

The OEM steps shown are hard to find as most of them were either damaged while wheeling and pitched or just pitched right from the start.
