It is loooong gone I have a 78 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l weber 38 I believe it should be around 8 - 10 btdc but not sure on the rpm's 1600 I have read but not sure just lookin for some input I cant believe I am having so much trouble finding definative info on this. Maybe its me.I set it at 8 at 1600 tonight but cant test it under load till I get my new driveshafts

Try 6-7 degree BTDC and see where the RPM sets im not 100% on the rpm's but 1600 seems a little high.

My little red Jeep 1978 service book says.... 8 degrees at 550 RPM for the 49 state models and if you are unlucky enough to have the Ca. version you would still do 8 degrees but at 850 RPM.
