Sloppy transfer case

Hey all,

I don't get to put my 77 CJ7 into 4 wheel drive very often. I tried today and had to struggle pretty hard to get it into 4H. It seemed to need to be rolled a little bit before it would shift into 4H - does that sound normal?

I think I have a Dana 20 Transfer Case mated to my T-150 Transmission .

It's a gear driven case, so sometimes it needs to move a little bit to get the gears lined up.

Ah, that makes sense. At first, the shifter felt spongy which therefor felt bad. Once I rolled it a little bit, it went into gear with a satisfying clunk.
