my CJ5 has a SR4 . i found a T-4 on craigslist for AMC 150 bucks. will it bolt right in place of my SR4 ? i see on novak its compatible with AMC I4 & I6 engines. i have a 2.5 iron duke. will this work?

Same size and should interchange. Both are light duty transmissions

The T-4 if from a 4 cylinder 2.5L AMC powered Jeep will have a 1" x 14 spline input shaft, if it was from a 6 cylinder Jeep it will have the standard 1 1/8" x 10 splines. The clutch disc on the 4 cylinder is 9 & something inches diameter, the 6 cylinder clutch would have been a 10 1/2" disc. When I swapped to a V8, I changed the Transmission years ago to an Advanced Adapters WC Super T-5 that was built for a V8 to 350 HP and used the Iron Duke bellhousing off an SR4 Transmission for direct fit replacement of the 4 cylinder AMC bellhousing that was on a T-4 originally behind the AMC 4 cylinder I had. Everything is over the counter parts clutch wise and you can order it for stock applications by telling them the spline count so YES, IT IS A DIRECT BOLT ON APPLICATION..

i found one even closer. 10 miles away and 100 bucks :) i will go stronger when i break this tr4. lol thanks for the info man!

Thinking on doing the same swap. But i am removing the iron duke for a TBI 4.3 and wanting to keep my Dana 300 . will the T-4 have the strength to hold up to
33s and the power of the 4.3? does or has anyone done this ?

not sure if it will hold up or not but it is a light duty tranny so i would recomend a beefy tranny behind that motor. they run good for a v 6

well i ended up getting a T-4 . it was a direct bolt in. i had to make a shifter because they are different. other than that it was smooth as butter and works good. shift pattern is different for reverse as well.
