Hi all, newbie here-- Even though I have had my CJ7 for 15 years..I currently have a T-150 that has decied to come apart inside.. Not good.. I thought I had a spare Transmission until I went to put it in this weekend. I noticed the positions on the Transfer Case ( Transmission was already mated to the case on my spare) are different.. On the one in my jeep 4-low is all the way back-- On my spare it is all the way forward. I just wanted a cheap swap, I am not hard on it at all. Everything looks the same except where the shaft goes into the pilot bushing in the crank.. My spare Transmission which I am now thinking to be a T-14 is 1/2" shorter.. Does anybody think there will be an issue with this? All I can find on this supposed T-14 is that it was weaker. The length on both appear to be the same.. The jeep is currently at my cabin so I am not able to run out to the garage to look at it, lol... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Kevin

The T-14 comes in two versions, the Dauntless Buick 225 V6 and AMC I6. You would need the 1972 to 1975 version bell housing and T-14 as the bell is deeper than the standard Jeep housing plus the bolt pattern is not the same between the Dauntless Buick 225 V6 and the AMC I6. Also the output shaft to the Transfer Case on the T-14 is unique and even though the T-14 will bolt up to the large hole Spicer 18 /Dana 20 the bull gear from the T-150 will not interchange with the T-14 . (get the one from the T-14 donor) In my opinion I would stick with the T-150 . It is really a strong Transmission over most of what Jeep used, easy to rebuild and by the time you buy all the extras needed to install the T-14 the cost of a T-150 rebuild kit is paid for.

Hmmm, I may have a T-150 then... As it came out of a jeep and it looks just like the T-150 I took out. The only diff I can see besides the Transfer Case being different is the input shaft that goes into the pilot bushing is 1/2" shoter..Wish I had the stuff here.. I think I am going to try and stick it in there.. I am going to fix the T-150 ---when I get time and $$$. Kevin

Years ago I put a T-14 in place of a T-150 Ina 79 CJ5 The bellhousings are different. Threats what you're seeing as 1/2" shorter.

Post some pics please.

I wish I had pics, lol.. I can't even find a pic of the jeep. It lloks in another forum I found that the T-14 has only six bolts holding the top cover on where the AMC 150 has eight. I may not "just be sliding er in there next weekend, lol. I am not measuring the bellhousing, its still in the jeep.. We will see.. I don't beat the thinmg, just a cruiser up there and plow a samll drive in the winter usually about 5 times. Kevin
