Greetings,

I was told when I bought my jeep that it has a T-14 Cast Iron 3spd Tranny, the seller told me this was an "up grade" cause he was tired of blowing out the old tranny. I realy know very little about the T-14 so I did some research on it on the internet. Based on what I have read it doesn't apear to be an upgrade, read a lot of poor reviews said it was basically ok for the road but not for off road. Of course the T-18 was mentioned as the greatest Transmission ever!

What are your thoughts and dealings with the T-14 , should I begin my tranny shopping now?

Thanks in advance

Justin

THE T 14 IS AN UPGRADE, TO THE T-86
the T-86 is not known for it's strength, so between 65 and 67 those with where stuck with the t 86 like to swap for the T-14 , which Jeep started putting into the CJ5 behind the v6 as an upgrade to the t 86.
It is not a bad tranny at all, I run it in my 70 and never have had a problem

Baja pretty much said it all but be ready you'll get a million people tell you to run out and put X, or Y, or Z Transmission in or your doomed. Depends on what you will be doing with your Jeep.
