Hi All,

Ive always wanted a Jeep and finally pick on up a few weeks back, although it is a bit of a project. The guy I bought it from had removed the T-4 tranny, and was in the process of putting a T-5 in. So when I picked it up, the tranny, Transfer Case , etc.. was not installed. I have installed the T-5 (I will be replacing this soon with something beefier, just want to get it running for now). I have two questions looking for help with:

1) When installing the skid plate, the tranny mount holes are no where close to lining up with the holes in the skid plate. Is this because there was a T-4 in there before? Do I need to drill new holes, or am I not lining something up correct?

2)I have the weight of the tranny currently supported with a jack. However, in order to get the skid plate flush up against the frame, it is pushing the tranny up further than I expected. Is there a difference in depth between the T-4 and T-5 ? Or should I just jack it up until the skid plate meets the frame?

Thanks for the help!

As you raise the tranny up to clear the skid plate, you should be able to make it fit. If it isn't already done by now.

I just did a T-4 -T-5 swap. The holes are nowhere near each-other, you are right. I drilled new holes. I re-used the stabilizer bar from the T-4 because I originally thought that it would line up with that one but just left it on there after I drilled the new holes. It was a longer stabilizer bar so I figured maybe it would work better. Could be wrong. I don't know about the T-5 being positioned lower, I just jacked it up until the plate was flush.
