Installing the HEI in my 86 CJ7 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l engine. My question is will the factory tach work with the HEI? I have read conflicting answers. Will i need to replace the factory tach and get one that is compatable with HEI ignition?
 
My factory tech is wired to the tach side of the HEI and it works as it should.
