I had recently bought me some LED tail lights for the Jeep
Jeep Wrangler LED Tail Lights by Rugged Ridge.
Tonight I finally had the time to install them. Why is it the simplest jobs seem to be the most difficult. I had three wires on the new tail light three wires coming out of the Jeep and all of the colors matched with the wires (red, black and green) So i match the wires to the appropriate color and turn on the lights and the brakes light light up, I put it in reverse and nothing, try the turn signals nothing so now the guessing game starts what color goes to which color. On the old tail light Green went to the Backup light and red and black were the brake, tail and turn signals. After trying a couple different combinations I ended up with green from the tail light to red off the Jeep. Black off the Tail light went to Green on the Jeep and Red off the tail light went to Black off the Jeep. I don't know if this is typical of how screwy the tail lights were wired at the factory (Taiwan) or if this was a typical PO hack job. As I was putting the final touches on my connections one of the wires broke at the plug now I need a tail light wiring harness I have checked at the mail order places and it looks like the only way to get one is to order a replacement light fixture. Does anyone have any idea where I might be able to find one?:dunno:
