In order to save a thread, I will ask and question and introduce myself here.

I am 19 years old and work for Just Automotive in Williamsburg, Iowa. I just picked up this 1981 Jeep J-10 project. The inline six that was in it had a cracked block and is being replaced by a Ford 302.

My question is, which image is correct? Thanks!

lol, i hate to tell you this, but neither one is! these are both pics of a throwout bearing...

as for which one is correct regarding the clutch fork placement, my phone wont let me see them that well. we will wait till some knowledgable person drops in to help you out.

and a merry welcome to the forums! :)

Ok, I'm on my 'puter now...

In the second pic, is that a black clip on the back of the square plate? If so, the "cups" of the fork tips will slide under them to keep the fork aligned with (and pressed up against) the throwout bearing.
Is that clear as mud?

Lol my bad I guess. So that second picture would be correct?
This truck literally came mostly in boxes! It has been a challenge to complete it!

Thanks for the quick reply! This has been bugging me all day!
