Ok so i have worked with fiberglass building consoles and small stuff with boats but i have never really goten into working with it and understanding its capabilities. This guy on craigslist has a hard top thats split between the door and the side window. It looks like a clean break. He has a good price on it and its in the town im headed to tomorrow. its been on craigs for a while and i keep accidentally clicking on his add. i feel like this hard top is challenging me!! for all the guys that work with fiberglass do you think this can be easily fixed? if so how? would i need to buy resin and basically glue it together? I really wont to cover it in jb weld only because i like playing with that stuff :D even though it would be raggedy. could i fix this top and sand it and maby bed line the top and it look all good? thanks

be honest if its a wast dont hesitate to tell me :chug:

many thanks

repairable? yes. problem is the door is gonna be constantly banging against it. but if you like to play with things, feel free to buy a fiberglass repair kit and get to work. let me know how you make out

oh man i didnt even think about the door banging against it. :chug: it might be like a never ending repair. i might can sink in some mettle bolsters to keep it solid or something. the problem would be making it look somewhat normal.

I'd pass and find another one. They are around.

It's just never the same once it cracked.

so i contacted the guy and he had a guy come and took a saw and cut it in half and took it home haha so i guess some guy with a saw and a little cash saved me some trouble i was getting myself into. haha i still think it would have been a fun challenge.

73CJ your probably right. i already have a top and doors, i was just looking for a project i like to get myself into messes haha

shoulda bought it and fixed it. Id have ground it down a little then pop riveted some sheetmetal over the crack to join it back together, then use the fiberglass to cover it all up and make it look nice. I done this once with a fiberglass roll pan and it worked like a charm.

yea i was planning on doing the same. my father said he had done that too and he said it would work like a charm but i probably would have found a way to screw it up more
