Going to do a clutch job on a 81 CJ5 . It has been a while, 25 years from the last one I did. Is there a tranny mount upgrade a person should do while they are down there?

I changed mine out and used a poly one from energy suppression. A lot better than the rubber one, that was oil soaked and rotten.

How about the skid pan, or crossmember slash skid pan is there a need to up grade. Seems like a lot is riding on the skid pan

It's plenty strong. Just pay attention to the bolts going through it into the frame, I've had them break.

If you are looking for more clearance, a custom skid can be made or purchased. This is going to involve clocking the xfercase and raising the tranny depending on how flat you want it.
