Had my tranny 83 cj AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l 4 speed tranny rebuilt several years ago. Rebuild guy said put ATF in it now seems sycros 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd are not working. Did he give me BAD info. Had 90wt in it at first took it back to him cause synco 1st to 2nd grinding thats when he said use ATF. Any suggestions would be great before I pull it and try the rebuild myself.
If it is a T-176 it should not have had ATF they run gear lube. And they can be a bear to rebuild yourself unless you have done something like this before.
