Transfer case question?

I would guess one is the vent plug.:D

Normally there are plastic pugs in those holes. The purpose of the holes is for assembly. They put a spring and ball in there under the shift rails. This ball presses on dentents in the shift rails. When you rebuild the Transfer Case hold your hand over those holes when you remove the shift rails so you don't loose the balls or springs.

Most 30 year old jeeps are missing those plastic plugs. It's really not an issue.

I put a ball ended switch in the rail to turn on a 4WD light in the gage cluster.

Similar to the one on the T-14 shifter tower for 3rd gear disabling of the spark advance in 1973. :D
