Hello all,
I've got a 71 CJ5 and I'm trying to figure out why there would be spacers between the frame rails and the Transmission crossmember. These spacers cause the crossmember to hang about 1/2'' lower than it would if it were just bolted directly onto the frame. There haven't been any mods (that I can think of) that would explain it. I've been looking for pictures...no luck. Can anyone confirm if these are stock? Thanks in advance.

I tend to think they were put there for a reason. You could remove them and check for any additional driveline vibration when driving though. They are usually installed to help correct the driveline geometry for an installation of aftermarket springs along with wedges on top of the u-bolt plates on the rear axle. If they are stock, that is a new one on me.

Like post before me said that is something installed with a lift to help with driveline angles. The po may of had a lift on it and removed it before selling it but left that. If it is at stock height you should be able to remove it.

sound like a normal tcase drop..for reasons stated above
